Force format and mount USB drive in windows 8

Had a problem with an usb drive that I prevously had used with http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ this was the only solution that I found that worked:

  1. Open “Command Prompt” with admin rights.
  2. Type DISKPART & hit enter
  3. Type LIST DISK & note down the Disk number of your USB flash drive.
  4. Type SELECT DISK = & put your USB Disk Number at the end example = SELECT DISK 1
  5. Type CLEAN
  6. Type CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
  7. Type ACTIVE
  8. Type FORMAT FS=NTFS
Note: The format process may take some time to complete
  9. Type ASSIGN
  10. Type EXIT
    & Close “Command Prompt”
